France's National Federation of Free Software Companies (Fnill) and the French association of the software and computing services companies (Syntec) are organising presentations on Free Software in Paris on the morning of March 14.
The two organisation want to promote understanding of Open Source software. They estimate that the total turnover of Open Source software in France is about 730 million euro. "Free software covers a sizeable market. However, for many people it remains unfamiliar, in particular its legal aspects. We will present concrete legal and trade issues of Open Source software."
One of the companies present at the discussion is the French GNU/Linux consultancy Linagora. This company is involved in the migration to an Open Source desktop of the French parliament. Also present will be representatives of IBM and Novell, companies very much involved in development of the Open Source market.
The event is open to laywers and others interested.
