Objectives
The AMIS Quota project was launched to create a new IT system that contributes to the management of the tariff quotas of the Directorate General for Agriculture & Rural Development. The main objectives of the AMIS Quota project are:
- To improve the management of tariff quotas by means of a structured IT system. This system supports the electronic collection, processing and dissemination of information related to the quota’s implementation processes between the Directorate General for Agriculture & Rural Development and the Member States
- To improve the transparency and accountability of the management process
- To reduce the dependency on manual labour and personal knowledge in order to manage the quotas
- To improve the public access to up-to-date information about Agricultural tariff quotas via the Europa (EU Web Portal) web site.
Technical Functionalities & Approach
The AMIS Quota system consists of a set of web modules connected to a central database. The system supports the exchange of information between the Member States and the Directorate General Agriculture & Rural Development, in order to provide IT support to the management of the agricultural quotas. The system will also allow the dissemination of public information on quotas to the European citizens via the Europa web site (EC Web portal).
The AMIS Quota system is already in production and all Member States are using it. Member States have pointed out some areas of improvement, therefore a new action has been launched that aims at improving the current system in the following areas:
- business logic: to make the management of the import tariff quotas more flexible
- reporting module: to extend the reporting capabilities for Member States
- user interface: to increase its effectiveness and ease of use.
The main goals of the current action are to increase the flexibility of the system and to improve the User Interface.
