Background
Semantic interoperability is central to the implementation of European interoperability. The European Interoperability Framework (EIF) defines it as one of the three main dimensions of interoperability - besides organisational and technical interoperability. All three dimensions are considered to be prerequisites for the seamless and user-centred delivery of pan-European eGovernment services.
The IDABC Working Paper on Semantic Interoperability, which is part of the feasibility study to be presented at the event, has identified a central European XML-Clearinghouse as a main building block for the semantic interoperability or pan-European services.
The event will help gather information on requirements and limitations related to implementation of the Clearinghouse, and will contribute to building a consensus on the strategy and follow-up actions, thus becoming a starting point for future cooperation.
For more information about the contents of this event, please see the provisional programme.
